Caribbean, also known as Caribbean Gold, is a 1952 adventure film directed by Edward Ludwig. In 1728, Captain Francis Barclay (Cedric Hardwicke), a notorious pirate, is burying his stolen treasure. When Dick Lindsay (John Payne) accidentally sees the pirate while he is duck hunting, Barclay captures him. Once they are on board his ship, the Black Panther, Barclay tells Lindsay that he needs to penetrate the fortified island of Andrew MacAllister (Francis L. Sullivan). Many years ago, MacAllister betrayed Barclay by selling him into slavery and taking away his young daughter, Christine (Arlene Dahl). To help Lindsay infiltrate the stronghold, Barclay burns a scar into Lindsay's face so that he will look like MacAllister's long-lost nephew, Robert. MacAllister quickly accepts the disguised Lindsay as his nephew and gives him a warm reception. As Lindsay tries to stir up a slave rebellion on the island, he becomes distracted by his attraction to the beautiful Christine. Caribbean is an enjoyable pirate adventure with plenty of swashbuckling fun.
