Carpool is a comedy directed by Arthur Hiller. Daniel Miller (David Paymer) is a career man and a workaholic. He leaves early in the morning to get to work and stays later than all his co-workers. When his wife gets sick, Daniel is stuck with driving the neighborhood carpool for his sons and their friends. His wife promises him that it'll be quick and he'll make it to work on time. Daniel agrees and drives the kids. They stop on the way to school to pick up food, and that's when things start to go incredibly wrong. Daniel is robbed by a masked man, who in turn, is robbed by Franklin Laszlo (Tom Arnold), the owner of a failed carnival. Frank had contemplated both bank robbery and suicide, but found this robbery a lot easier. He holds Daniel and the kids hostage because he can't get to his car in time. Together, they go on a wacky car chase as Frank runs from the law for the first time.moreless
