Carry on Columbus is a 1992 English film directed by Gerald Thomas and starring Jim Dale, Bernard Cribbins, and Maureen Lipman. This is the 31st and final film in the Carry On series, a run of British comedy films. Christopher Columbus (Dale) is a Spanish mapmaker who has a plan to set sail and find a new route to India. Hoping to avoid the taxes and tariffs implemented by the Sultan of Turkey (Rik Mayall), Columbus convinces King Ferdinand (Leslie Philips) and Queen Isabella (June Whitfield) to finance his voyage to India. When he sets sail, however, he has little clue that his hired cabin boy is actually a female. The Sultan of Turkey has sent Fatima (Sara Crowe) to sabotage the voyage, ensuring that he will continue to tax those traveling back and forth to India. Carry on Columbus received poor reviews and was not a success at the box office.
