Carson City Cyclone is a 1943 murder mystery western directed by Howard Bretherton and produced by Republic Pictures. The original screenplay was written by Norman S. Hall. A bank night watch-man survives being shot during a robbery and fingers local ruffian Tom Barton (Curley Dresden) as the shooter. Barton hires local attorney Gilbert Phalen (Don 'Red' Barry) to mount his defense. When Gilbert investigates he discovers a witness who gives Barton a strong alibi. This fact helps clear Barton of the crime. However, suspicions Soon erupt when the witness cashes a check apparently written by Gilbert. Gilbert's father a hard no-nonsense judge, (Noah Beery Jr.) opens a criminal bribery investigation into his son. Soon the judge is murdered and Gilbert becomes the prime suspect. Gilbert then embarks on a journey clear his name and avenge his father's death. Carson City Cyclone also features: Lynn Merrick, Bryant Washburn, Emmett Lynn, Stuart Hamblen, Roy Barcroft, Bud Osborne.
