Castle of the Living Dead is a gothic horror film about a band of traveling minstrels that are lured into the home of an old man with sinister intentions. On a tour throughout the countryside, a troupe of entertainers happen upon a stroke of good luck as they are stuck in the woods. Count Drago, (Christopher Lee) an older resident, offers them a handsome sum to come stay in his castle on the hill and perform for him. At first they are reluctant, and despite the ominous warnings of an old witch, (Donald Sutherland) the performers take the count up his offer, taking the trek up to his house. When they arrive, they realize that the castle is full of taxidermy projects, and when members start to disappear, they realize that this is much more than a typical gig. This 1964 gothic horror film was the first for young Sutherland, an old classic of the genre.
