Cat Ballou is a western comedy directed by Elliot Silverstein in 1965. The film stars Jane Fonda, Lee Marvin, Michael Callan and includes a choir-like narration by Nat King Cole and Stubby Kaye. Cat Ballou is returning to her home in Wyoming after spending years abroad on the East Coast. As she rides the train across country, she meets the acquaintance of two friendly mobsters - Clay Boone (Michael Callan) and Jed (Dwayne Hickman). When Cat finally makes it home, she learns that her unconventional father Frankie (John Marlie) is being pursued by a development company that threatens to kill him should he not comply with their orders. Sadly, Frankie is murdered shortly thereafter by a brutal man named Tim Strawn (Lee Marvin). A devastated and enraged Cat then sets out to avenge the death of her father, enlisting the help of her friends Clay, Jed, and her Native American friend Jackson Two-Bears (Tom Nardini). The film received a lot of critical applause upon its release in 1965. Actor Lee Marvin won more than 4 awards for his performance, including an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.moreless
