Twilight is the long-awaited film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's beloved vampire romance novel. When Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) moves from sunny Arizona to dreary Forks, Washington, she has a hard time adjusting. It doesn't help that her stunningly handsome lab partner Edward (Robert Pattinson), a member of the mysterious Cullen family, seems disgusted by her presence and skips school to avoid her. Things get even stranger when Edward saves her life in a feat of impossible strength but warns her not to tell anyone, and Bella learns about an ancient feud between the local Quileute tribe and a group of pale outsiders. Despite Edward's initial rebuffs, he can't seem to stay away from Bella, and the two start a cautious but intense romance. Bella realizes that Edward is a vampire, albeit a "vegetarian" who refrains from killing humans - though he can barely resist the intoxicating scent of her blood. Monsters vs. Aliens is a computer-animated 3D science fiction film developed by DreamWorks Animation and directed by Conrad Vernon and Rob Letterman that centers on poor Susan Murphy, whose dream of marrying her weatherman fiancé Derek Dietl goes flat when she's infected with a radioactive energy called quantonium. Unfortunately for Susan, the quantonium turns the meek and non-confrontational bride-to-be into a nearly fifty-foot tall super strong indestructible being. She finds herself captured by the United States military, led by General W.R. Monger, and kept in a secret facility with the other so-called monsters found throughout America over the years, including the gelatinous (and brainless) indestructible B.O.B., the human-turned-cockroach mad scientist Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D., the ape-fish hybrid and co-ed tormentor Missing Link, and the gigantically massive Insectosaurus, who's easily distracted by lights. When the alien Gallaxhar comes to Earth looking for the quantonium, Monger manages to convince the President to use the monsters as the first line of defense against Gallaxhar's alien technology. It seems the outcasts have to take on the shoes of heroes and Susan comes into her own as Ginormica.

Human Bella (Kristen Stewart) is in love with vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson). But an accident on her birthday reminds Edward just how dangerous it is for a human around his kind. So he decides he and his family need to leave, which all but destroys Bella. She is literally a zombie for the next four months until she accidentally discovers that doing something reckless allows her to hallucinate Edward. So she decides to enlist her beefed up friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner) to fix up some old motorcycles. But as the two spend time together, she starts feeling better and he starts feeling hot for her (and temperature wise). Eventually he pulls a sudden attitude shift, cropping his hair down and getting inked like a cult-like group on his reservation. Turns out this group are actually werewolves that only arise when vampires are around (to kill them) and Jake is one of the wolves. The pack are trying to stop Victoria, the ticked off mate of the bad vampire from the last movie, from getting to Bella, but Jake being gone so much drives her to need an Edward-inducing rush.moreless

Vanilla Sky is the mind-bending psychological thriller from writer/director Cameron Crowe. The film is a remake of Alejandro Amenabar's 1997 Spanish film Open Your Eyes (Abre Los Ojos). The story centers around David Ames (Tom Cruise), a wealthy bachelor who heads his deceased father's publishing company. After ending a relationship with Julianna (Cameron Diaz), David soon falls for Sofia (Penelope Cruz, reprising her role from Abre Los Ojos). After Julianna learns of David's new love interest, she suffers a mental break down and drives David and herself off of a bridge. What follows is an intense and often confounding exploration of our place in reality. Crowe mixes psychology, romance, paranoia and science fiction in Vanilla Sky. One of the reasons the film became an international hit was due to its eclectic soundtrack. Crowe, a former music journalist, is known for injecting evocative songs into his films. Sir Paul McCartney wrote and performed the Oscar nominated song for the film, entitled Vanilla Sky.moreless
