The Birdcage is a comedy film directed by Mike Nicholas that is a remake of the French film, La Cage aux Folles, that centers on a newly engaged couple, Val Goldman (Dan Futterman) and Barbara Keeley (Calista Flockhart), as they take the steps to have their very different families meet. The first family dinner is always a tough one but it's especially tough when Barbara's father is an ultraconservative Republican Senator (Gene Hackman) and Val's father, Armand Goldman (Robin Williams), owns a drag club, the Birdcage, in South Beach with Val's other father Albert (Nathan Lane) as the star. Unsure of how to handle things, Val decides to have Armand seek out his birth mother, Katherine Archer (Christine Baranski), tries to redecorate the apartment in a ÒstraighterÓ fashion, and tries to get Albert out of the house with the help of their flamboyant housekeeper Agador (Han Azaria). Things don't quite work out as Katherine's stuck in traffic, Albert's dressed up as a middle aged housewife, Agador's meal is a disaster, and the paparazzi are stalking the club to figure out why the co-founder of the Coalition for Moral Order is having a meeting at a drag club. It's a humorous look at what happens when anything that could go wrong does.moreless

Five Coolest Things: Road Racing introduces the world of road racing and its daredevil participants. Nicky Hayden, aka "The Kentucky Kid", is one of the sport's youngest and most prolific racers and he will guide you on a tour of the fastest sport on two wheels. Professional road racing is a motor sport that pits motorcycles against one another on paved tracks with varied shapes and routes. In contrast to Nascar and Formula 1 racing events, the track is always non-ovular and is often done on real streets. Hayden climbs aboard a massive "rocket ship" and accelerates over 200 miles per hour while driving some of his favorite and most dangerous pavement courses in the world. To master road racing, a driver and his team must successfully combine physics, engineering, and have the courage and adrenaline to push their two-wheeled super cycles to the limit against their competition. This film explores five of the most interesting aspects of professional road racing.moreless

John Michael Thornton is a psychic, medical intuitive and teacher. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, John had his first past life memory at age 13. Soon after, he began seeing auras and having psychic visions and experiences. Fortunately, rather than having him put away for a bit or heavily medicated, his parents, Jim (a student of astrology and the readings of Edgar Cayce) and Janet (a clinical councilor and hypnotist) found John teachers and mystics to help guide him and focus his talents. At 15 he was the youngest graduate of the Natural Psychic School of Metaphysics and ordained by Linda Schiller. John has worked and taught for the A.R.E. in Virginia, taught in LilyDale, N.Y. and lectured throughout the Northeastern U.S. Today, John is an accomplished psychic reader, yoga instructor, metaphysical teacher and the founder of GreatConjunction.org. As a teacher, John says, "I want to help you discover your spiritual path, not lead you down mine".When you first start to explore spirituality and psychic development there is this wonderful honeymoon period. You get the best parking places, synchronicity is everywhere and you talk to your guides more than you talk to your family. Then, the true work begins and you are faced with the choice of continuing down a spiritual path or spending your life as a tourist. No one can make the decision for you. No one can or will make you choose one way or another. For some people it is the first clear personal choice of their lives. The path of spirit is all about choice, free will and living with our choices every day. What are the guidelines we should follow? How do our choices affect others? Why do we make the choices we make and how do we live with them? In this presentation, John will look at how world religions have viewed choice as well as looking at modern mystics and teachers as they have explored this idea of free will. This is an excellent presentation for intuitives and skeptics!moreless

PUP follows two out, gay, Christian leathermen - Master Skip and Pup Tim - as they prepare to compete in The Second International Puppy Contest (IPC), a leather title contest for human canines and their handlers. The documentary is the first to introduce puppy play - a fetish in which a human expresses the attributes of a canine, most often in relation to another human taking the position of pup handler, owner, trainer, etc.Warm, affectionate, and funny, the film reveals a rarely seen world. We follow Master Skip and Pup Tim through the IPC veterinary exam, where Tim is examinedby the panel of judges in a private room, and then through the public portion of the contest, where the two perform before the judges and a large audience.Author Janet Hardy writes: "The seeking of transcendence is one of the highest human efforts ~ some do it in a church, some in a kennel, and a few in both." In PUP, we meet two men who seek it in both, and for whom fetish is not something separate from the spiritual fabric of their lives, but rather, is comfortably woven in.As Tim explains: "This is a spiritual thing....God didn't say: 'I'm giving you this fetish. Now it's going to mess up your life.' Here, this is your fetish, it's a gift. You can abuse it, or you can take it and cherish it and enjoy it -celebrate it! Well, that's what I plan to do."moreless

Ben-Hur: Collector's Edition is a 2005 enhanced release of the 1959 epic classic based on the book by Lew Wallace. It follows the life of Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston), a Judean prince living in the first century A.D., and his friend Messala (Stephen Boyd), a Roman who eventually becomes his greatest enemy. Seperated from his love Esther (Haya Hayareet), Mother Miriam (Martha Scott), and sister Tirzah (Cathy O'Donnell), Ben-Hur is sold into slavery by Messala in order to frighten the Jewish population into submission. But he eventually becomes entangled in another story altogether - the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a fantastic tale of redemption and forgiveness that echoes throughout film history. The special effects and climatic scenes such as the naval battle and ground breaking chariot race are every bit as exciting today as they were in 1959. The Collector's Edition boasts an enhanced film transfer from the restored 65mm originals.moreless

Another Country, a 1984 film based on Julian Mitchell's 1981 play of the same name, is a fictionalized account of the early life of British double-agent Guy Burgess. In the film, Burgess is main character Guy Bennett (Rupert Everett). In the 1930s, Guy is openly homosexual at his all-boys school, and as a result of his nonconformity, his closest friend is Tommy Judd (Colin Firth), whose Marxist opinions also make him an outsider. Guy wants to become a prefect at his school, while Tommy feels that the prefect system is oppressive to the other students. One prefect in particular is Fowler (Tristan Oliver), who uses his high status to abuse and order around other students. Meanwhile, when a professor catches two young boys in a romantic embrace, rumors spread through the school, and one of the boys commits suicide. This fuels Fowler's desire to keep Guy from becoming a prefect. Despite the homophobic attitude of the school, Guy begins a secret relationship with James Harcourt (Cary Elwes). However, in a society where appearances are everything, Guy's two greatest desires have him trapped, and choosing high status means sacrificing personal happiness.moreless

The Bible is the retelling of the first 22 chapters of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, from acclaimed director John Huston. The primary characters in the story are the couple that begin a pilgrimage which begins the story of Israel finding a homeland, Abraham (George C. Scott) and Sarah (Ava Gardner). Three angels (Peter O'Toole) appear to the elderly couple to tell them that Sarah will in her old age bear a son. This begins the classic story of faith, one in which a barren couple gives birth and then have to put everything on the line for their God. They must leave the land of Ur to go to the land to which God has called them. Along the way, Abraham must make the greatest of sacrifices and give up his son on Mount Moriah. However, God proves himself faithful. The broader narrative includes the story of Adam (Michael Parks) and Eve (Ulla Bergryd), the Tower of Babel, and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, in which God rains down fire on the sinful cities. This is an epic story of the founding families of the Jewish faith.moreless

A Single Man is the critically acclaimed film directed by Tom Ford, a fashion designer who also supplied much of the wardrobe. It is the story, brilliantly conceived and executed, of a gay college professor who's lost the love of his life, and how he saves himself and is saved from despair and suicide. Based on Christopher Isherwood's novel about an English professor grieving the loss of his partner of 17 years (a relationship never recognized by the partner's family), this film, set in October 1962, has beautiful period sets, architecture, wardrobe, and lifestyles -- and makes clever use of color and close-ups to tell the story. In a more than Oscar-worthy performance, Colin Firth (The English Patient, Bridget Jones' Diary, The Importance of Being Earnest, Love Actually, Girl With a Pearl Earring) plays George the professor, Matthew Goode (Watchmen, Match Point, The Lookout) his longtime partner, Jim; Julianne Moore (Hannibal, Boogie Nights) plays George's best friend Charley.moreless

His father prompts him to study the healing possibilities of the natural world, specifically The Gerson Therapy, which involves a salt-free, fat-free, low protein, vegetarian diet. He sends Garrett on a cross-country mission to interview those who have used alternative medicine successfully. Garrett even ends up interviewing Dr. Charlotte Gerson herself whose husband beat cancer with a strict diet.
