Caught in the Crossfire follows Sandra Williamsm who always wanted to be a mother and she thought she was a "damn good one too," until the night her nine year old daughter accidentally overheard a radio program debating whether or not gays and lesbians should be parents. Sandra is a lesbian. She had been out and comfortable for years, but the look on her daughter's face that night left her wondering for the first time how her daughter "really felt about her" and about the effect that having a gay or lesbian parent would be having on her child and on other children as well. Caught in the Crossfire was the result of Sandra's desire to ask this difficult question.
