Chain Reaction is the 1996 thriller that combines modern science with all the elements of a classic mystery. Two researchers, Eddie Kasalavich (Keanu Reeves) and Dr. Lily Sinclair (Rachel Weisz), spend many late nights in the lab trying to develop a cutting edge, green fuel source which is free of pollution and low-cost. However, one of the chief scientists mysteriously turns up dead after an explosion at the lab, and someone steals the prize invention. Rogue members of the government, trying to get their hands on the fuel source, frame Eddie and Dr. Sinclair. As a result, the two have to start out on the run, pursued by the CIA, the FBI, and several parties interested in the product. Paul Shannon (Morgan Freeman) directs a competing scientific lab which wants to get its hands on the invention and the significant proceeds it promises to generate. Eddie and Lily are out to clear their names and recover their work.
