Challenge of the Shaolin Disciples is a classic high-flying martial arts movie from Hong Kong directed by Chen Ming-Hua. The story can be quickly summarized as a face-off between two rival Shaolin clans. Master Chen (Iron Hand) is a tyrant taking control of the countryside and the people. Only Master Kim (Iron Fist) and his protege stand in the way of his complete dominance. Can the Iron Fist stop the Iron Hand? This is a film plush with excessively lavish costumes and sets that are a wonder to behold. There is plenty of unintentional campiness and humor which will keep you smiling throughout. Of course all roads lead to the final epic battle between the masters. The fight is long and includes all the incredible acrobatics and martial arts movements that are common to this genre. Reputed to be one of the best kung-fu fight scenes ever made, this final confrontation is worth the price of admission.
