Chamber of Fear is a 1972 horror film directed by Jack Hill and Juan Ibanez. The film follows Doctor Carl Mandel (Boris Karloff) who believes he has finally found answers to the secrets of the universe after a lifetime of searching. Aging and ill, he detects a mysterious pattern of transmissions coming from underneath a distant volcano. Mandel sends his daughter, Corinne (Julissa), and assistant Mark (Carlos East), to find the source of the transmissions. When the two arrive at the source, they find a living rock that feeds off of the fear of humans and bring a sample of the rock back to Mandel's laboratory. Mandel manages to hook the rock up to his computer and establishes communication. When the rock agrees to reveal its secrets in exchange for fear hormones, the Doctor and comely assistant Helga (Isela Vega), set out to terrify would be temporary lab workers to obtain their hormone rich blood. In the end, however, the rock is not satisfied with the minute quantity of hormones contained in blood and hungers for a full meal.moreless
