Champagne For Caesar is a comedy about unemployed genius Beauregard Bottomley (Ronald Colman), who lives with his sister Gwenn (Celeste Holm), and Caesar, Bottomley's champagne-loving parrot, voiced by Mel Blanc. Although Bottomley is highly knowledgeable about everything, he has trouble holding down a job. He applies for a position at Milady Soap, but when he is turned down and humiliated by eccentric company president, Burnbridge Waters (Vincent Price), he decides to get even by becoming a contestant on Masquerade for Money, a quiz show produced by Milady Soap and hosted by Art Linkletter. Contestants arrive dressed as a historical person or object, and the host asks questions based on the costume, doubling the cash prize with each correct answer. Bottomley scorns the anti-intellectual premise of the quiz show and arrives dressed as the Encyclopedia Britannica. His ability to answer every question correctly is initially seen as a ratings bonanza, but as Bottomley starts to amass money, Burnbridge Waters tries to get the show off the air and strategizes with his staff to try and bring down the contestant who knows everything.moreless
