Changeling is a 2008 drama based on true events that is directed by Clint Eastwood. In 1928, Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) is a single mother working as a telephone operator in Los Angeles. When she unexpectedly has to go to work one day, Christine leaves her 9-year-old son Walter (Gatlin Griffith) at home alone. After she returns that evening, she discovers that Walter has mysteriously disappeared. When police officers J.J. Jones (Jeffrey Donovan), James E. Davis (Colm Feore), and Lester Ybarra (Michael Kelly) fail to find her son, Reverend Gustav Briegleb (John Malkovich) publicly chastises the incompetent Los Angeles police department. After five months, the police finally come tell Christine that they have found her son and escort her to the train station to be reunited with him. Although the police present her with a boy who looks strangely like Walter, Christine realizes that he is not her son. Since the media is swarming around them, the police officers persuade Christine to take the boy home. When persistent Christine refuses to give up the search for her real son, she faces resistance from the police chief, who is determined to preserve his reputation.
