Charlie Chan: The Jade Mask follows the endearing detective Charlie Chan (Sidney Toler) on his most recent assignment, finding a missing scientist who is at work on a very significant project. Dr. Harper (Frank Reicher) was a genius in the lab but had many enemies and a loathsome disposition. He disappeared in the midst of developing a gas that would give ordinary wood the strength of steel. When Dr. Harper is discovered dead, Chan sets out to solve the high-profile murder through a sea of obstacles. He is joined by his fourth son, Eddie Chan (Edwin Luke), and his finicky but trustworthy assistant, Birmingham Brown (Mantan Moreland), on his search to find the culprit. Unfortunately for Chan, the list of suspects seems to be endless. Chan questions his way through Harper's fellow scientists and is greeted with a sea of alibis when addressing Harper's family. In this exciting mystery film, anyone and everyone is a suspect.
