Charlotte's Web is the 2006 live-action and computer-animated adaptation of E.B.White's classic children's novel. Fern Anable (Dakota Fanning), a girl who lives on a farm in Maine, stops her father from killing the runt in a litter of piglets. Fern names her new pet Wilbur and takes care of him until he is sold to the neighboring Zuckermans, who will raise him for meat. Fern discovers that Wilbur is not alone in his new pen; an extraordinary spider, Charlotte (Julia Roberts), and a friendly rat named Templeton (Steve Buscemi) also live there and befriend the piglet. Charlotte decides to help Fern and Wilbur by spelling out messages in her webs to convince the Zuckermans that Wilbur is a special pig and that they should spare his life. Charlotte's plan succeeds, but when she travels with Fern to a state fair where the now-famous Wilbur will be shown, the friends discover that their happiness may be short-lived.
