Cheaper by the Dozen 2 is an American family comedy by director Adam Shankman, starring Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Piper Perabo, Tom Welling, Eugene Levy, Hilary Duff, Carmen Electra, Alyson Stoner, and Taylor Lautner in the star-packed sequel to the popular 2003 family comedy, Cheaper by the Dozen. This time, the Baker kids are all growing up and dad Tom (Steve Martin) feels like the family is growing apart. It's time for one last family vacation, all together, to reconnect. When they arrive at Lake Winnetka, however, things don't go exactly as Tom would have hoped. Not only are the kids not exactly thrilled to be spending their summer vacation on a fairly boring lake, but Tom's old rival, Jimmy Murtaugh (Eugene Levy), and his family are also there! Things go downhill fast as the fathers try to sort out their competitive issues over the Annual Family Cup. Pranks, accidents, and family drama abound in Cheaper by the Dozen 2, a fun sequel that fans of the original will enjoy.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 70

    Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas

A family comedy that is actually involving, even believable, and manages to be pretty funny too.

  • 40

    Variety Justin Chang

Bland, canned but studiously professional sequel retains most of the principals from Fox's family-friendly 2003 hit, including the ever-reliable Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt.

  • 30

    The New York Times

This messy blend of silly slapstick and oversentimentality probably won't please children, teenagers or adults.
