Check Your Guns is a 1948 western directed by Ray Taylor. When the local sheriff is shot, Eddie Dean (himself) takes over as the sheriff of Red Gap. His first order of business requiring everyone to check their guns at his office. However, troublemaker Brad Taggart (I. Stanford Fawcett) and his gang of henchman, Ace (Mikel Conrad), Slim (Lane Bradford) and Sloane (Terry Frost) think this does not apply to them. When Dean collars them on the infraction, Judge Hammond (William Fawcett) lets the men off the hook. It does not take the furious Dean long to figure out Judge Hammond is in Taggart's pocket. Realizing he is up against more than he can handle on his own, Dean talks his friends Soapy Jones (Roscoe Ates) and Cathy Jordan (Nancy Gates) into helping him take down Taggart and his henchman. Together the trio face insurmountable obstacles in restoring law and order to Red Gap.
