Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke

Movie Summary

Director:
Lou Adler
Released:
1978
Rating:
R
Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke is the story of a pair of stoners and their misadventures. Anthony Stoner (Tommy Chong) is told by his parents (Strother Martin and Edie Adams) that he must get a job by sundown or he will be forced to attend military school. Anthony leaves the house, but not long after his car breaks down and he is picked up by Pedro De Pacas (Cheech Marin). The two become fast friends over a joint that Pedro has, and the duo become so stoned they end up sitting in the car in the median strip. They are arrested but get off when the judge is found to have vodka in his water pitcher. They soon get deported to Mexico, along with Pedro's family, and they must find their way back into the United States. Pedro's uncle has a car for them to use at his upholstery shop, but they mistakenly go to a marijuana warehouse and end up with a van made completely of marijuana. They frequently encounter the police but are never arrested on their way back into the United States. Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke is the first full-length film from the comedy duo, and has all of the ridiculousness and slapstick that you would expect.moreless
