Cherry Blossoms is a 2009 romantic drama about love and sacrifice directed by Doris Dorrie. In the film, Rudi (Elmar Wepper) and Trudi Angermeier (Hannelore Elsner), are a happily married couple who must deal with devastating news. Rudi's doctor tells his wife that Rudi does not have long to live and suggests they should spend some memorable time together. Trudi is overwhelmed by this revelation and decides to keep the diagnosis a secret. Knowing her husband's days are numbered, she persuades them to visit their children in Berlin. Unfortunately, when they arrive, their children are not interested in seeing them because of their busy schedules. Refusing to let that damper their vacation, the couple drive to the Baltic Sea where Trudi suddenly dies. Rudi is devastated by his wife's death and reaches out to another son living in Japan. While in Japan, Rudi learns he did not know his wife had unfilled dreams and that she sacrificed her dreams for him and their children. While trying to understand his wife's lost life goals, he meets a Bavarian Buthoh dancer, Yu (Aya Irizuki). With Yu's help Rudi tries to appreciate his wife's dreams and aspirations after her death because he was unable able to before she died.moreless
