Directed by Gene Kelly, Cheyenne Social Club is a 1970 American Western comedy film starring James Stewart, Henry Fonda, and Shirley Jones. When cowboys John O'Hanlan (Stewart) and Harley Sullivan (Fonda) get word that O'Hanlan has just inherited a house called "The Cheyenne Social Club" from his deceased brother, they head to Cheyenne, Wyoming to inspect the property. John and Harley quickly discover that it is actually a brothel, and a popular one at that. John decides that he doesn't want to be the owner of a brothel and intends to turn it into a boarding house. He gets into a bar brawl with some of the patrons and learns of a provision in his brother's will that states that the house must continue operating as a brothel or the deed will be handed over to Railroad. When John accidentally kills a belligerent client of the house, the deceased man's family makes their way to Cheyenne to exact revenge. John and Harley must then fight back in order to save their lives and the future of the The Cheyenne Social Club.
