Movie Summary

Mark Dindal

Chicken Little is a 2005 American computer-animated science fiction family film based on the popular fable, The Sky Is Falling. The 46th animated feature film from Walt Disney Feature Animation, Chicken Little tells the tale of a neurotic little chick, Chicken Little (voice of Zach Braff), who sees the end of the world around every corner. In the typical "boy who cried wolf" fashion, however, the end of the world is, eventually, around the corner and no one will believe Chicken Little when he tries to warn them! An alien invasion is imminent and, as Chicken Little's warnings are merely scoffed at, it is up to Chicken Little and his band of fellow outcasts, Abby Mallard (voice of Joan Cusack), Runt of the Litter (voice of Steve Zahn), and Fish Out of Water (voice of Dan Molina), to save the day. Chicken Little is a cute film about friendship, identity, and fighting for what you believe.

Metacritic Score

  • 50

    Los Angeles Times Carina Chocano

Chicken Little, though it has its moments, mostly just feels anxious and overreaching. It tries to be all things to all people and fails to be anything to anyone.

    Variety Todd McCarthy

Lives up to its name by serving up a fraction of what audiences are used to getting in this department from PixarPixar and DreamWorks -- little originality, little humor and little...

  • 30

The New York Times Dana Stevens

A hectic, uninspired pastiche of catchphrases and clichés, with very little wit, inspiration or originality to bring its frantically moving images to genuine life.
