Children of Dune is a science fiction three-part miniseries directed by Greg Yaitanes, based on Frank Herbert’s novels, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune, which continues the story of the House of Atreides twelve years after Paul Muad’Dib Atreides (Paul Newman) became the new emperor and ruler of Arrakis, a sand planet coveted for its sole control of “the spice”. Disheartened by the state of his Empire and grieving the loss of his Fremen wife, Chani (Barbora Kodetova), the prescient messiah leaves his orphaned twin children and the empire in the hands of his sister Alia (Daniela Amavia). Now as young adults, Leto II (James McAvoy) and Ghanima (Jessica Brooks) have to take on their father’s destiny to create the Golden Path, which would lead humanity away from its destruction. They have to do what they must in order to slip past the treachery that overwhelmed their father, including the slow insanity of their aunt and the political machinations of deposed monarch, Princess Wensicia (Susan Sarandon). Will the two orphans succeed in the task their father abandoned? Are the sacrifices worth the risk?moreless
