China Doll, set in Asia during wartime, shows the human side of conflict and the consequences of violence on real people. Air Force Captain Cliff Brandon (Victor Mature) pilots bombers on dangerous missions around Asia and when he comes back to the base, he drinks and bar hops along with his friends. Due to a few twists of fate, Captain Brandon ends up with a young Asian woman, Shu-Jen (Li Li Hua) as his housekeeper. She is sincere and lovely and inevitably ends up pregnant. The Captain does like her and agrees to get married. His friends on the base are happy for them and especially glad to see his lifestyle taking a positive turn. War does not leave much time for celebrations and he is soon off on another mission. While he is away, the base comes under enemy fire and he tries to return in time to save his family. When he arrives the attack is ongoing and there are tragic consequences. Many years later, his friends, now back home in America, try to find out what really happened.moreless
