Chris Rock: Never Scared is a stand-up show by a notorious comedian who has never been afraid to tell the truth. Here Rock performs in front of crowds gathered at Constitution Hall at the nation's capital in 2004. After four years without a stand-up performance, Rock reappears on his "The Black Ambition Tour" with new material about some familiar subjects. Rock explores race relations, parenting, politics, fame, affirmative action, rap music, and President George Bush. Now an HBO special, this show is a reminder of why Rock climbed quickly to international stardom and continues to hold the public attention. His pseudo-angry critique of mindless social norms, his sarcastic exposure of political hypocrisy, and his direct, to-the-point look at why people do the things they do are simultaneously engaging and offensive. However, for all the offense, the audience joins him in his skepticism about the information they're fed by Washington and Hollywood, which makes for the material of great comedy.
