Christian is a coming-of-age story by the Danish director Gabriel Axel. It tells the story of Christian (Nikolaj Bjarn Christensen), a young man who has grown tired of the quiet, boring life in his native country of Denmark. He firmly believes that his destiny and one true love both live somewhere far from the place he calls home. Having saved up some money, Christian takes off on a journey across the globe. He travels to many countries, but cannot seem to find what he is looking for. Wherever he is, he constantly longs to be somewhere else. His journey takes him to Morocco, a place of exotic delights. Christian arrives thinking that this is just another stop on his trip, but quickly finds that this strange and new world may finally provide him with the fulfillment that he has so desperately craved. The movie is Gabriel Axel's directorial debut and features music written and performed by Nikolaj Bjarn Christensen himself.
