Cincinnati Kid is a 1965 American drama film that was produced by Filmways. The movie was directed by Norman Jewison, based on the novel by Richard Jessup, and written by Ring Lardner Jr. and Terry Southern. It stars Steve McQueen, Ann-Margret, Karl Malden, Rip Torn, Edward G. Robinson and Tuesday Weld. Cincinnati Kid follows a depression era poker player called Eric "The Kid" Stoner (Steve McQueen), a skilled player, who strives to prove himself as one of the best in the world of poker. His opportunity arises when a veteran master poker player Lancey Howard (Edward G. Robinson), known as "The Man", comes into town and challenges Stoner to a game. "The Shooter" (Karl Malden) arranges the game and acts as dealer, but when Slade (Rip Torn), an old rival of Howard's, comes into the game he tries to fix the outcome of the game.
