City Heat is a 1984 crime comedy starring Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds as former police partners in Depression era Kansas City who must work together to take on the Mob. Mike Murphy (Burt Reynolds) left the police force and formed a private investigation business. When an associate, Dehl Swift (Richard Roundtree), gets murdered, Murphy's former partner, Lieutenant Speer (Clint Eastwood), gets the case and the two feuding investigators have to set aside their many differences to solve the crime. Swift had been trying to blackmail local mob boss Primo Pitt (Rip Torn) with some accounting records that would send him to jail for life. The two detectives find themselves caught in a mob war between Pitt and rival leader Leon Coll (Tony Lo Bianco), but still find time to romance secretary, Addy (Jane Alexander), and vamp, Caroline (Madeline Kahn). Richard Benjamin ("My Favorite Year") directs this comic take on crime fighting and mismatched partners.
