City on Fire is an action-packed Chinese martial arts film released in 1987 and directed by Ringo Lam. Police detective Ko Chow (Yun-Fat Chow) is hot on the trail of a group of notorious jewel thieves. Anxious to capture them, he goes undercover and infiltrates the gang. Eventually, Ko gains their trust and is accepted into the gang's inner circle. However, his cover is blown during a botched heist, and he must scramble to convince the thieves that he does not work for the police. City on Fire is full of unbelievable martial arts sequences, wild car chases and exhilarating firefights. American film director Quentin Tarantino has often remarked that this film has had a huge influence on his directorial style and particularly on his first film, Reservoir Dogs. City on Fire is a must-see for Tarantino fans and will also be enjoyed by viewers who enjoy Hong Kong cinema, martial arts, and action films.
