Classic Rhythm & Blues: Vol. 6 is hosted by respected jazz musician Ben Sidran and features classic R&B performances from the 1980s. Sharing insight and knowledge of the featured performers, Sidran is an informative and friendly host. This show features performances from R&B greats such as Chick Corea, a former member of the great Miles Davis band, and Tower of Power, the Oakland, California, band that's been rocking the R&B, soul, and funk world for over 40 years. Corea takes a double billing with performances of "Sidewalk" and "Malguena," while Tower of Power's "Only So Much Oil in the Ground" is a stand-out performance on the show. Folk performer Long John Baldry appears for a rousing rendition of Aretha Franklin's "Respect." Other performances include David Bromberg performing "Mr. Blue," John Sebastien singing "Welcome Back," and The Minnesota Barking Ducks performing "Juke." Bonnie Koluc, the pride of the Illinois folk scene, sings a beautiful version of "Blue Skies."
