Closely Watched Trains is a 1966 coming-of-age movie set in a Czechoslovakian village during World War II. The film follows Milo'' Hrma (V''clav Neck''''), a dispatcher's apprentice, who is learning about love the hard way. Advised by his boss, train dispatcher Hubi''ka (Josef Somr), young Milo'' eventually manages to entice M''''a (Jitka Bendov''), a young conductor, into a night of romance. Unfortunately, the romantic interlude goes awry when Milo'' ejaculates prematurely. Despondent and distraut, Milo'' attempts suicide. After the attempt, Milo'' is taken to a doctor (Ji'''' Menzel) who explains to him that ejaculatio praecox is common in a boy his age. The doctor suggests a more mature woman to help him through this difficulty. Meanwhile, Hubi''ka finds himself in trouble after stamping telegraphist Zdeni''ka (Jitka Zelenohorsk'') butt with a rubber stamp. Hubi''ka is fired and teams up with the partisans to exact revenge. Milo'' goes along for the ride when he is promised a solution for his problem.
