Coal Miner's Daughter: Collector's Edition from Netflix captures the incredible story of Loretta Lynn (Sissy Spacek). Lynn was one of eight children of coal miner Ted Webb (Levon Helm), born in the poor town of Butcher Hollow, Kentucky. At the age of 13 she married Oliver Vanetta "Doolittle" Lynn (Tommy Lee Jones) and soon was mother to 4 children of her own. She began her journey to becoming the "First Lady of Country Music" when Doolittle, recognizing her potential, gave her a guitar. Spacek, handpicked by Lynn herself, was reticent to star in the film, but star and sing she did, earning an Oscar and Golden Globe for best actress. Director Michael Apted paints a vivid picture of rural American life, and brings us into the world of the "Coal Miners Daughter" and her hard road to country stardom. The film also features Phyllis Boyens, William Sanderson and Beverly D'Angelo portraying Patsy Cline.moreless
