Coast of Skeletons follows a diamond hunt led by Inspector Harry Sanders (Richard Todd) and his rival, Texas playboy, A.J. Magnus (Dale Robertson). A remake of the novel "Sanders of the Rivers" by Edgar Wallace, the story is an adventure set on the Ivory Coast of Africa and a sequel to Death Drums Along the River. Sanders, an insurance investigator, uncovers a plot to pillage the sunken ships that had been insured by Sanders' company, treasure to which the company is entitled for having covered the loss. Magnus is a southern millionaire out for adventure and a new boost to his fortunes. Aboard the German dredge that Magnus is using, both romance and tension are brewing among the crew. There are very few on the side of the law who could stop an American treasure hunter, which leaves Sanders on his own to pursue the money to which his company is entitled.
