Comanche Moon is a three-part TV mini-series that aired on CBS in 2008. It is based on the novel by Larry McMurtry and is a prequel to the acclaimed mini-series and book, Lonesome Dove. Set in 1858, Comanche Moon tells the tale of two young Texas Rangers, Gus McCrae (Steve Zahn) and Woodrow Call (Karl Urban) and their interactions with the Comanche Indians. The white man and the Comanche had been warring for decades, and Gus and Woodrow are drawn into the fracas when they go after a thief named Kicking Wolf (Jonathan Joss), who snuck into the Rangers camp and absconded with some horses. Aided by a peculiar captain, Inish Scull (Val Kilmer), the men set off on their quest. There are many interactions with the fierce Comanche, battles with the elements and skirmishes between the North and South. In addition, there are the love lives of Gus and Woodrow that ebb flow, as would be expected of long-ranging lawmen of the mid-1800s. Comanche Moon explores the lives of the characters, Gus and Woodrow, made famous by Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones.
