Confidence is a crime drama directed by James Foley in 2003. Jake Vig (Edward Burns) is the leader of a small gang of grifters who are celebrating their latest heist. However, following the night of celebration one of their members is found shot in retribution for their actions. Unbeknownst to the crew, the money from their last heist was stolen from a ruthless L.A. crime lord known only as the King (Dustin Hoffman). In order to make amends, Jake proposes that his band works with the King in order to steal money from the King's rival, Morgan Price (Robert Forster). However, the plan goes off less than soundly with the appearance of Special Agent Gunther Butan (Andy Garcia), who has pursued Jake for years and is looking to finally arrest him. However, as Jake explains the rules of the con, layers and layers of manipulation and deception are unveiled, where nothing and no one is who they seem.
