Congo is a 1995 action adventure movie directed by Frank Marshal. It is based on a novel of the same name written by Michael Crichton. A high-tech company needs special diamonds for its new new laser communication system. The company's megalomaniacal C.E.O dispatches a team, led by his son into the rain forests of the Congo to search for a rumored source of large diamonds. In their last communication the team reports finding an ancient lost city, but the communications are disrupted by an attack by what appears be gorillas. Another expedition is launched, led by Dr. Karen Ross (Laura Linney) and containing famed mercenary Munro, (Ernie Hudson) a gorilla named Amy who can communicate with sign language, and her trainer, Dr. Peter Elliot (Dylan Walsh). Soon after arriving in Africa the team learns that a consortium of rival corporations has also sent an expedition after the diamonds. A race is on, with the rival teams battling through many hazards to be the first into the Congo. However, the real danger only begins once they arrive.
