Movie Summary

Director:
Jordan Walker-Pearlman
Released:
2005
Rating:
PG-13
Constellation tells the story of the Boxer family, a Southern African-American family in turmoil due to their failed relationships. Carmel Boxer (Gabrielle Union) is the sister who lived her entire life in her hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. Helms Boxer (Billy Dee Williams) is the brother who escapes to Paris to pursue his artistic career. Carmel spends her life in sadness as the love of her life, a white man, fails to return her affections. When she passes away the family gathers at home to prepare for her funeral and mourn. The haunted, painful life of Carmel is revealed as the family gathers together for the first time in many years to tell stories and reminisce. Helms finds himself deeply affected by his sister's story of lost love and is spurred to attempt re-connecting with Nancy (Lesley Ann Warren), his estranged wife, and daughters Rosa (Zoe Saldana) and Lucy (Melissa da Souza). Constellation is a poignant, touching family drama with a top-notch cast.moreless
