Conversations with Other Women

Movie Summary

Director:
Unknown
Released:
2006
Rating:
R

Conversations with Other Women is the unconventional love story of two strangers who meet at a wedding and spend the night together. When a man (Aaron Eckhart) and woman (Helena Bonham Carter) introduced themselves to one another at the wedding of a friend, sexual energy and tension is apparent from the start. They find themselves engrossed in stimulating conversation; sparks fly, and before long they head back to a hotel room, together. Passion engulfs the evening, but as the champagne begins to wear off, the sparks turn into smolders and the man and woman wonder if their chemistry was misleading, and they have actually made a mistake. Hans Canosa directs this very unique and heralded film, from the acclaimed script by Gabrielle Zevin. The movie is shot and shown with two camera angles, on split screen throughout, offering an interesting perspective for the viewer as the story is told. A break from the norm in both presentation and substance, Conversations with Other Women is refreshing, original, and well done.

The battle of the sexes is restaged to clever but inconsequential effect in Conversations With Other Women. Very much a case of old wine in a new bottle.
