1968
Rating:
R

Coogan's Bluff revolves around one man's journey to find and capture a fugitive. Walt Coogan is a deputy sheriff in Arizona, and in the wide, open spaces, he's in his element. But he's sent to New York City to extradite a killer, Jimmy Ringerman; it's his first time in the Big Apple, and he quickly finds himself a fish out of water. He arrives to find that Ringerman is in hospital after an LSD overdose; tricking the nurses into releasing Ringerman into his custody, he is attacked and Ringerman escapes. With hard-boiled NYC cops making plenty of trouble for him, Coogan must find his prisoner and successfully take him back to Arizona - but it's no easy task. This was the first of five movies that Clint Eastwood made with ace director Don Siegel, and gave him one of his first big Hollywood successes after his return from Italy.
