Cool Air, a 1999 film based on an H.P. Lovecraft story by the same name, is about Randolph Carter (Brian Moore), an aspiring author who struggles to find housing in New York City. Finally, he finds at a room at a cheap rent house. The plot centers around his rather eccentric neighbor, Dr. Muoz (Jack Donner). When Carter has a severe heart attack, he is saved by a concoction of drugs mixed by Dr. Muoz. The two develop a close friendship. Carter notices that Dr. Muoz has several eccentricities. He is obsessed with defying death by any means, and his apartment is constantly kept at freezing cold temperatures. After a problem with Dr. Muoz' cooling system leads Carter to discover a terrifying secret, Carter is forced to reexamine his perspectives about life and death.
