Coraline is a stop-motion children's film that was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2009 Academy Awards. Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) is not happy when she is forced to move away from Michigan to live with her mother Mel (Teri Hatcher) and father Charlie (John Hodgman) at the Pink Palace Apartments in Oregon. Since her parents are ignoring her to devote time to work, Coraline begins to feel bored and forgotten. The only other people that she has to talk to at the apartments are two old women, a retired acrobat, and Wybie Lovat (Robert Bailey, Jr.), the annoying grandson of the caretaker. One night, Coraline wakes up to discover a magical door in her apartment that leads to an alternate reality. When she enters the other world, she discovers fun doppelg''ngers of her parents who give her a lot of attention, along with more exciting versions of the people from the apartment complex. Although Coraline enjoys taking trips to the alternate reality each night, she will soon find that there is a dark side to this seemingly perfect world.moreless
