Country Remedy, also known as Simple Things, is a 2008 drama directed by Andrew C. Erin that explores how people test what is important to them in their lives. Dr. Evan Gibbs (Cameron Bancroft) is a successful, widowed workaholic father who has agreed to temporarily move with his 10-year-old son (Aidan Mitchell) to a small, country town in the North Carolina mountains. Dr. Gibbs is hoping to land a job as head of pediatrics at a Chicago hospital; he hopes setting up the clinic will impress his superiors and secure the job for him. However, when the small family arrives in the small town, the locals do not readily accept them, and vice versa. While trying to manage small-town life, Dr. Gibbs does begin to appreciate the slower paced life in the town. With more time on his hands, Evan is able to contemplate his future and reflect on the losses he has experienced.
