Couples Retreat is the 2009 hit comedy from the hilarious hit-making team of Jon Favreau (Swingers, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Made, Zathura) and Vince Vaughn (The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Psycho, Clay Pigeons), directed by former A Christmas Story star Peter Billingsley. The story tells of four couples, all friends, who head for a luxury tropical island holiday resort at the behest of Jason (Jason Bateman, Extract, Juno, Horrible Bosses) and Cynthia (Kristin Bell, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Veronica Mars) who are keen to work on their marriage using the counseling element of the specialist resort. The other three couples, expecting scuba diving, jet skiing etc. are disconcerted to find that they, too, are expected to participate in the marriage skills enhancement regime which, of course, soon point up weaknesses in all their relationships.
