Covered Wagon Raid is a western adventure film released in 1950 and directed by R.G. Springsteen. A violent group of thieves has infiltrated a small frontier town and is tampering with the mail. Whenever they read about an expected visitor from out of town, they murder and rob him. Most of the men slaughtered by the bandits are policyholders of the Mohican Insurance Company. Soon, the company sends agent Rocky Lane (Allan Lane) to get to the bottom of the crimes. Shortly after arriving in the area, Rocky uncovers evidence that links the murders to a notorious local outlaw, Grif (Dick Curtis). Unwilling to admit guilt and surrender, Grif murders one of his own henchmen and tries to frame Rocky for the crime. Now the insurance agent must prove his own innocence and gather enough evidence to get Grif arrested. Covered Wagon Raid is a classic of the western canon that is deservedly popular with genre fans.
