Cowboy Serenade is western movie directed by William Morgan. As the leader of the Flagpole Cattlemen's Association, Gene Autry (himself) decides to allow Jimmy Agnew (Rand Brooks) to travel to Sage City and sell cattle. Traveling by train, Jimmy gets involved with a poker game run by a professional gambling ring and loses the cattle. When he doesn't return, Gene, along with his friend Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette), leaves to search for him. Autry is able to locate Jimmy and also deduces that Asa Lock (Addison Richards) is the mastermind behind the gambling ring. Complicating matters even further, Lock turns out to be the father of Gene's new love interest, Stephanie (Fay McKenzie). Autry manages to find proof that Lock is behind the illegal organization and sends Jimmy to the District Attorney with the information. Asa orders his men to crash Jimmy's car, without realizing that his daughter is riding with him. Gene and Lock must then work together if they want to save the lives of the people they love.moreless
