Cream: Classic Artists seeks to explore the special ingredients that made up rock and roll's first super group in the late 1960s. The film traces the backgrounds of each member, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Jack Bruce, in postwar England from their early bands to the formation of Cream in 1966. Through extensive and candid interviews with all three members, the film follows the band through its short and tumultuous, but creatively fruitful years together. The members talk about writing their biggest hits including, "Sunshine of Your Love," "White Room," and "I Feel Free," as well as the tensions that eventually broke up the band. Ginger Baker, in particular, tells blunt and forceful stories about the band's successes and failures. Cream: Classic Artists also follows the band from its breakup in 1968 to their triumphant reunion in 2005. Though there is often no love lost between the members of Cream, this documentary separates fact from fiction in tracing the mercurial career of an influential rock band.moreless
