Creature of the Black Lagoon: Special Edition is a classic in the realm of "B" movies. The original Creature of the Black Lagoon came out in 1954 and has been popular with movie fans ever since. In this thriller, Kay Lawrence (Julie Adams) and her co-worker Dr. David Reed (Richard Carlson) travel to the Amazon for a scientific expedition. Kay is an atypical scientist in that she chooses to do her work in bikinis. While working in the Amazon, Kay and David discover the black lagoon. While in the black lagoon, a swamp creature spies bikini-clad Kay and immediately becomes infatuated with her. In his eagerness to get to Kay, the creature kills several members of the expedition team and then kidnaps Kay. The remaining team members form a plan for her rescue. The movie, directed by Jack Arnold, is enhanced by eerie music throughout and obviously through the presence of the creature itself with its creepy gills and tattoos.
