Creature from the Black Lagoon is the 1954 science fiction Universal Monsters classic from prolific genre director (Jack Arnold, Tarantula, The Incredible Shrinking Man, It Came from Outer Space). Aging but brilliant scientist Dr. Carl Maia (Antonio Moreno) discovers a fantastic and terrifying prehistoric claw in a limestone deposit near his campsite. Unable to identify the specimen, he brings it to the institute where his brilliant prot'g', marine biologist Dr. David Reed (Richard Carlson), is in residence conducting research with his partner, and love interest, Dr. Kay Lawrence (Julie Adams), under the auspices of their semi-cuckolded boss Dr. Mark Williams (Richard Dennings). Presenting his find to the astonished group, they agree to fund an expedition to the site in order to hopefully uncover the rest of the skeleton, which points to a fossil of incredible significance: a prehistoric 'man-fish' which could be the missing link between man and his aquatic ancestors. When they travel to 'The Black Lagoon,' they are shocked to discover that more than just the creature's fossil exists down there'moreless
