Crossing the Line is the story of a life altered by desperation and harrowing events. Rick Kagan (Rick Herst) is a snobby, rich brat who lives solely on his parents' money. He has a fondness for fast bikes and spends his days engaging in illegal and highly dangerous street races. His brother, Jack (John Saxon) disapproves and threatens that the next time he catches Rick in a street race, that race will be his last. Rick doesn't listen and goes out with his best friend, Zack (John Stafford), for another run on their bikes. Zack takes a dangerous curve too fast and wipes out, getting fatally injured in the process. He falls into a deep coma and Rick is immediately blamed by everyone. Worse yet, his brother claims to have witnessed the whole thing and vehemently states that the entire incident is Rick's fault and he should be arrested and tried for his actions.
