Crucible of Horror, AKA The Corpse, is a 1971 horror film directed by Viktors Ritelis. The film follows the sadistic banker Walter Eastwood (played by Michael Gough) who frequently humiliates and tortures his wife (played by Yvonne Mitchell) and his daughter Jane (played by Sharon Gurney) while praising his son Rupert (played by Gough's actual son, Simon Gough). After putting up with Walter's abuse for far too long the women decide that they have had enough and they conspire to kill him. They are successful in killing Walter with poison but he comes back from the dead as a zombie seeking revenge. If you're thinking this all sounds very similar to the earlier film DIABOLIQUE well then yes, you're right; it does sound very similar...Regardless if you're a fan of classic British horror films from the 60s and 70s such as those made by Hammer Studios, you'll probably like this minor British horror film.
